Job summary

Through extensive internal and external engagement, UHL has developed a new Organisational Strategy (2023-30) which sets out its long-term vision and priorities.

The Strategy outlines four key goals for the organisation, along with a set of organisational values which guide how colleagues should operate. The Strategy also looks to embed health equality and inclusion throughout the organisation's work. The purpose of this role is to help coordinate delivery of this Strategy and provide strategic and operational planning support to our corporate directorates and clinical management groups (CMGs).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the heads of strategy and planning to fulfil the following duties:

  • Overseeing, coordinating and supporting the development and implementation of the Trust's Organisational Strategy and key underpinning plans and strategies.

  • Planning and facilitating engagement with internal and external stakeholders (including patients and the public) to help inform the Trust's strategy developments.

  • Supporting alignment and coherence between plans and strategies both internally and externally (i.e. ensuring our strategic goals and objectives align with those of our key health and care system partners).

  • Undertaking research and analysis to inform plan and strategy development.

  • Supporting the Trust's annual operational planning and investment processes.

  • Project managing the Trust's Primary/Secondary Care improvement agenda.

The responsibilities of the Strategy and Partnerships Team are interdependent - it is expected that all members of the team, including the Strategy and Planning Manager, work flexibly across the team to deliver organisational priorities.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
