Advanced Specialist Pharmacist
Band: 8A
We are looking for a dynamic, organised and motivated individual who has an interest in general paediatrics and children's Rheumatology.
The post involves:
- Providing support the rheumatology service with use of medications across range of conditions, and safe medicines practice.
- Participation in the multidisciplinary team delivering and promoting high quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Acting as a clinical role model in their clinical areas and supervising rotational staff at ward level.
- Development, implementation and audit of local guidelines.
- Auditing drug usage with the aim of promoting cost effective prescribing.
- Ensuring seamless pharmaceutical care on discharge from wards and liaising with other healthcare professionals (primary and secondary care) as necessary.
Team-working, innovation, communication and influencing skills will be essential to being effective in the post.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the provision of rheumatology paediatric service to the CMG. Deputise for the directorate lead pharmacist as required Be accountable for provision of education & training to healthcare professionals (including pharmacy and wider team) on aspects of children's rheumatology and paediatric pharmacy. Also clinical supervision and mentoring of junior pharmacy staff. To actively pursue, lead & develop clinical pharmacy audit & practice research within the specialist area; publicise results of work through presentations & publications. To evaluate errors made with high-risk medicines used by Specialty, to communicate these errors with relevant teams and to help reduce future occurrence of such errors throughout the Trust and wider Healthcare Community Please note, the post holder will be expected to contribute to core pharmacy services including weekends, bank holidays early evening shifts and on-call on a rotational basis.The post holder may be required to cover a variety of wards within the women and children's service.
