Job summary
This role is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the busiest and modern Emergency Departments (ED) in the country whilst developing a new prehospital service for the local community. Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) is a new subspecialty of Emergency Medicine. This role will allow the individual to gain valuable experience in the prehospital environment to support their future career development.

GeneralTo work within the trust values and adhere to local polices and guidelines To comply with guidance from the General Medical Council (GMC) on good medical practice To ensure maintenance of a valid GMC registration and licence to practice Participate in mandatory training and keep up to date
ClinicalProvide community based emergency medicine within a doctor and paramedic team Provide a 24 hour Emergency Medicine service to the main department along with fellow registrar colleagues and report to the ED consultant. Take a leadership role in development and delivery of emergency care and ongoing medical plans in community patients including liaising with other health care providers such as primary care. Support and supervise allied health professionals in the pre-hospital setting
EducationHave an enthusiastic attitude towards training Participate in formal and informal teaching of paramedics, nurses, ACPs and junior doctors in both emergency and pre-hospital emergency medicine. Participate in regular simulation based training

- oFull GMC registration with a license to practice, evidence of foundation competency in line with GMC good medical practice
- oPrimary Medical Degree eg MBChB or equivalent
- oALS / ACLS Provider
Desirable
- oHigher post graduate qualification eg MRCEM, FRCEM Intermediate, FRCEM.
- oPHEM qualification eg. DipIMC(RCSEd)
Clinical Experience

- oAt least 4 years post-registration experience
- oAt least 18 months Emergency Medicine experience
- oAt least 6 months Anaesthetics experience Or 12 months between anaesthesia / ITU where a minimum of 3 months completed in anaesthesia
