Job summary
Telephone triage is a phoneline available to pregnant and postnatal women under the care of UHL for advice and guidance, and for signposting to the most appropriate services dependent on their concern and clinical need. You will provide a comprehensive telephone dedicated triage service, for patients requiring advice and guidance providing appropriate information or referrals, as per the agreed protocols.
Working patterns Early/Late/Twilight. Long shifts also possible.

You must hold UK NMC midwifery registration. You will be expected to be able to show evidence of current practice/updating.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a comprehensive triage service, for patients requiring advice and guidance providing appropriate information or referrals, as per the agreed protocols.
- To maintain clear, concise and accurate documentation within the systems provided.
- To ensure that any necessary arrangements for specimen follow up or care of the patient are completed prior to the end of the shift.
- To maintain effective communication/referral links with multidisciplinary teams to the benefit of the service users.
- To promote high standards of patient care by the application of a systematic triage approach and undertake comprehensive holistic assessments of person centered care needs.
- To maintain the confidentiality of matters relating to patients and patient care in accordance with the guidelines.
