Applications are invited for the position of Trust Grade Doctor (ST3+ level) in Trauma and Orthopaedics based at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) Posts are offered on a fixed term basis commencing in August 2020
Main duties of the job
The Trauma and Orthopaedic department at UHL offers comprehensive hospital and community health services for its local population and a range of specialist services for a wider group of patients. Our progressive department is staffed by over 40 Consultants, whose sub specialty interests include upper and lower limb, spine, foot & ankle, arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty, paediatric and hand & wrist.
This post offers ample opportunity for training and participation in operating lists with induction and career mentoring by Consultants. Your timetable will include theatre time, clinics, ward rounds and on call commitments as well as protected time for research and admin. The department is committed to education.

The local city and community served by the Trust is highly diverse with a complex mix of clinical and cultural needs. Good working relationships, strong multi-agency working arrangements and integrated pathways already exist between hospital and community health services, primary care, local authority and mental health services.

However, in all other respects the post holder will have identical terms and conditions of service to the departments doctors in training working at this level. Clinical audit experience and ample research opportunities will be available for individuals wishing to progress in their career. Previous trust grade doctors have successfully published papers, won deanery prizes, passed the FRCS and succeeded in obtaining CESR for Consultant appointment.
