An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x Category Manager's to work within the Clinical Team within UHL's Procurement and Supplies Department.
This is a senior role responsible for managing a complex portfolio of projects within defined Procurement Categories to achieve economic supply arrangements and best value, whilst adhering to procurement rules and Trust governance.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced procurement professional to provide a comprehensive procurement advisory and planning service, driving efficiencies in Trust expenditure.
The successful candidate will lead on delivering complex procurement projects through management of Procurement strategies, processes and plans, delivering cost savings across the Trusts Clinical Management Groups and Directorates.
Your primary base will be County Hall; however frequent travel between UHL's hospital sites will be required.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to a Senior Category Manager, the post holder will manage a portfolio of projects within one or more Procurement Categories and achieve the most economic supply arrangements, whilst adhering to procurement rules and Trust governance.

- To provide a comprehensive procurement advisory and planning service with particular reference to Standing Financial Instructions (SFI's), Standing Orders (SO's), to the Clinical Management Groups (CMG's) and Corporate Directorates, supporting them in driving efficiency in clinical and non-clinical expenditure
- To be responsible for ensuring rigorous control of Procurement is maintained, which complies with current legislation.
- Coverage of £220m non pay spend across the Trust, ensuring strategies that deliver value for money and improved services.
- Make recommendations as to the products and services to purchase in conjunction with Clinical and User networks.
- Attendance and contribution as required to Clinical Management Group CIP meetings.
- Attendance where appropriate at Management Board meetings.
- Deputise for Senior Category Manager and Head of Procurement at meetings as required.
- To deliver procurements within pre-defined budgets.
- Line management responsibility for assigned category specialists and assistants.
- Engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
