An exciting opportunity has risen within CoMET to join the paediatric transport education team. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who is experienced in transport to join our service.
CoMET is the supra-regional Paediatric Critical Care Transport Service hosted by The University Hospitals of Leicester, in partnership with Nottingham University Hospital which launched in March 2017. CoMET is responsible for covering the East Midlands, providing advice and support for our 11 referring centres. The team operates a 24 hour acute transport service 7 days a week and a repatriation service in daytime hours to help create patient flow in our critical care beds within the region.
This is a unique opportunity for you to become involved in developing the service further as we move to a single site base in Castle Donington alongside our neonatal, adults and ECMO transport colleagues. The education team support a regional education programme run in conjunction with the East Midlands Children's Critical Care Network, as well as a comprehensive training programme for staff working within the service and an outreach programme for our referring hospitals.
We are also proud to be opening our own on site immersive simulation suite later this year which will further enhance our education resources within the region.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a key member of the team supporting the regional paediatric centres and CoMET, the East Midlands Paediatric Critical Care Transport service particularly in response to the anticipated autumn and winter surge in respiratory infections in children. The post holder will work within the multidisciplinary education team and the East Midlands Children's Critical Care Network (EMCN) staff.
The successful applicant will act as a role model to provide clinical leadership to the nursing and medical team, sharing expert knowledge and supporting in the clinical and transport setting. The post holder will alsowork in partnership with the Matron and Lead Consultants for CoMET and the practice development teams within the operational area of the Service, being responsible for planning and leading in the implementation of evidence-based, patient-focused practice, provide training programmes for stabilisation and care of critically ill infants and children.
Also key to the role will be maintaining links with institutes of further learning to ensure the ongoing training of transport team members and to be visible and accessible for staff working for CoMET and within the hospitals within the operational area of the Service.
