Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a personable and motivated individual to be our new Fundraising Events Assistant.

You will join a growing charity team to support our Community and Events Fundraising Manager to help implement our strategy. We are currently raising funds to expand access to chemotherapy in Leicester, and to build a new Spiritual Care Centre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Our aim is to raise over £5M per year by 2024.

Leicester Hospitals Charity is the official charity of the three hospitals in Leicester: the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital, and Leicester General. We support patients, their carers, and the NHS staff who look after them in Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, and beyond. Our fundraising is linked closely with the strategic aims of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the Fundraising Team, the Fundraising Events Assistant will be expected to:

  • To assist with admin, planning preparation and organisation of fundraising events
  • To assist with supporting of community fundraisers
  • To help maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the charity's fundraising database
  • To support the marketing and promotion of campaigns and fundraising appeals
  • To assist in maintaining appropriate levels of communication with existing donors

  • To routinely process and acknowledge donations and responses to event and mailings.
  • To respond to enquiries and pledges from the public and staff relating to fundraising for Leicester Hospitals Charity.
  • To manage and maintain contact with existing community and event supporters.
  • To aid the Community and Events Fundraising Manager at fundraising events.
  • To assist where necessary in supporting in-aid of fundraising events.
  • To assist in systematic approaches to identify and develop relationships with community groups.
