Job summary
The ACCOTS team for the East Midlands is looking for a Lead Practitioner, ideally with an excellent understanding of intensive care medicine and transfer of the critically ill adult patient. This post would suit a dynamic, motivated individual with a passion to support the development of the new service.
The successful candidate would be supported to undertake appropriate training and development opportunities. The role requires travel within the East Midlands and a flexible approach to the working environment; collaboration with West Midlands counterparts will also be essential for successful integration of the service overall.

Main duties of the job
- Lead and be a role model for the multi-professional team, ensuring that the clinical care delivered is of the highest quality and standard.
- In partnership with the Lead Clinician(s) and key stakeholders develop and maintain up to date, evidence-based transfer protocols and guidelines.
- Provide specialised knowledge and skilled care for critically ill adults requiring transfer and their families.
- Responsible for the continuous management of the clinical transfer teams and day to day operational oversight of the service.
- Take a proactive role in education and developing key skills within the team
- Responsible for ensuring professional standards, codes of conduct and registration are met within the team
- Manage and maintain effective control of the service pay budget.
- Co-lead with the Lead Clinician(s), the clinical governance agenda for the service, ensuring the service continues to meet the needs of the critically ill adult and their families, who require transfer
- Contribute to national adult transfer service development.
- Provide regular feedback to the ACCOTS Partnership Board on progress, issues and future directions.
- Directly responsible for the line management of the transfer practitioner team and clerical support within the service.
- Engage with patients and relatives and develop action plans at a Directorate and Corporate level.
- Engage in transfer activity sufficient to maintain relevant registration and clinical competency.
