Job summary

This post, based primarily at County Hall, will be based within the IM&T department. The post holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining eLearning, digital materials, guides and documents for the eHospital Programme that is delivering a first of type, mobile Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system in collaboration with Nervecentre.

The post holder will be working with the IM&T team and others including clinicians, technologists and operational colleagues across various projects, to assist in the delivery of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) solutions to enable a blended learning approach to courses.

You will be expected to work on your own initiative whilst working closely with the wider eHospital Team.

Main duties of the job

This role will require such tasks as creating interactive eLearning, video demonstrations & video editing, podcasts, screencasts, video casts, animations, etc. for the various modules as they are developed, or updated, within our eHospital Programme along with any other training materials. In addition you may be called upon to facilitate or train and lead online forums and Teams-based meeting supporting any training.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To date we have delivered trust-wide, inpatient handover profile notes, observations, nursing assessments, clinical photography and discharge letters within the Nervecentre application. Furthermore, both Nervecentre's electronic prescribing (eMeds) and Pathology/Radiology requesting (Investigations) modules have been deployed in the last 18 months, to all Adult inpatient wards. In the current financial year (FY23/24), we will be introducing SNOMED coding for diagnosis, nursing care plans, eMeds in paediatrics, case notes and outpatient modules within the Nervecentre application. We are also collaboratively developing Nervecentre's Patient Administration System (PAS). Other novel projects include the UK's first truly Closed Loop Medication Administration (Optimed) project that University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust are piloting alongside Deenova and Nervecentre.Over the next few years, we wish to significantly reduce our reliance on paper notes and this will give us an even greater opportunity to significantly improve our working environment, research capabilities and patient care

Be responsible for the designing, building, development and maintenance of educational material that is produced including eLearning, podcasts, screencasts, video casts and animations relevant to IM&T and the eHospital Programme. Support and advise the Digital Learning Technologist in advising others, both internal and external stakeholders, on the use of technology to create educationally robust material. The post holder will be expected to work with the Digital Learning Technologist in the work process, identify the appropriate method of technology, planning the scripts and running order of the content and applying up-to-date learning and training methods. To use available software to create multimedia content incorporating graphics, animations, video and sound. To work with any external narrators in the studio when recording narrations for eLearning and videos, etc. To take responsibility for selected video & and eLearning editing. To keep up-to-date with all developments and trends in educational technology Be responsible for the production of print-based learning material to support the use of the EPR and the trusts digital systems.

Production of Materials

Develop virtual lesson plans / scripts for the creation of educationally robust learning packages and to keep these relevant and up to date in line with system changes. Analyse and document local workflows, data collection and reporting requirements. Works with stakeholders to translate their requirements into training materials that accurately reflect real world clinical scenarios. Work across Nervecentre application modules to meet integration needs and to ensure the full patient pathway is correctly supported by the training. Work with the wider training and project team, the Digital Learning Technologist and other developers to ensure impact of build configuration and changes are incorporated into training materials. Create, maintain and manage the development of How do I do..? materials and frequently asked questions, for publication on SharePoint. Assist in the testing and population of any training environments. Support other education teams within the Trust where needed to develop and produce their own learning material, recommending software, platforms and formats to ensure high educational quality standards. To support video-conferencing, including multi-site communication, and online initiatives, maximizing the use of available M365 technology including MS Teams, MS Forms, Power BI, etc. Work with colleagues in the HELM (L&D Learning Management System Team) to populate and create courses.

Be responsible for training & facilitation where needed as part of the eHospital programme. To be familiar with national training standards and their impact on training design. To create specific eLearning material for identified projects. To be conversant with all developments and trends in educational technologies and any associated technologies. To be aware of national developments within the NHS on eLearning initiatives.

Be responsible for providing support where needed. Provide a helpful and effective support to all service users Prepare and deliver presentations using our M365 platform (MS Team Meetings, MS Live Events, etc.) as and when required. Participate in team meetings within the IM&T Department and wider Trust. This will involve giving feedback/reports on progress with work, outlining any risks/difficulties and offering solutions wherever possible. Communicate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that their expectations and specifications are clearly understood and that they appreciate and agree to any limitations and/or change in requirements. Communication within and outside of the team may be verbal I.e., face-to-face or via telephone, email, text or in a written report format. Participation in video conferencing activities. To effectively communicate with programme and project staff discussing the specifications of particular projects and taking instruction as to how to proceed. They should be able to use their own judgement where necessary and to explain their reasoning behind their decisions. Maintain regular communication with other configuration teams and relevant supplier staff. To undertake further training and development as appropriate to the changing needs of the post. To undertake any other duties considered to be within the scope of the post, the post holders skills and competencies and/or agreed development opportunities.
