Job summary

Working across the Musculoskeletal & Specialist Surgery CMG

Lead and provide transformation support to the Musculoskeletal & specialist Surgery CMG.

If so, an opportunity has arisen in the Musculoskeletal & Specialist Surgery CMG to work alongside the senior leadership team to shape and deliver our Quality and Service Improvement agenda.

We are seeking an individual who has a positive mind-set enjoys problem solving, and who enjoy spending time with individuals and teams, talking to and persuading others that an issue is worth exploring.

This role will also play a key part in supporting our Quality Strategy "Becoming The Best," which aims to embed Quality Improvement (QI) across the Trust and develop the right conditions in which learning can flourish through an ethic of continuous learning about the benefits of changing our habits and behaviours.

You will need to have a Degree level qualification or equivalent experience gained in a health related and/or large complex organisation, alongside evidence of Quality Improvement and change management which has resulted in positive change in the health and/or social care setting. You will also need excellent interpersonal skills alongside strong organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

The Transformation lead will be line managed by and work closely with the Deputy Head of Operations, Head of Operations and Clinical Director working alongside the CMG leadership team to identify, scope and agree specific transformation and service improvement projects. Contributing to the planning and delivery of CIP through the transformational programme. Challenging and supporting General and Service Managers in the development and delivery of the CIP programme and tracking activity against plan.

They will play a key part in the further development of our open culture and support clinical, managerial and nursing teams to move our services forward.

The Transformation lead will identify and implement service transformation in line with the Organisation and CMG strategic direction.

They will ensure that sustainable improvements are quality focused, cash releasing and embedded within the clinical services.

They will work closely with the Deputy Head of Operations, General Managers, Service Managers, Heads of Service, Human Resources, finance, Business intelligence and other internal and external teams.

  • Deliver a portfolio of transformation across the CMG leading to sustainable change producing increased quality and safety within defined resources.

  • Ensure governance arrangements are in place to support transformational projects; project plans including milestones, delivery dates, KPIs, risk assessments and quality impact assessments.

  • Ensure the delivery of identified outputs and KPIs.

  • Ensure that all necessary communications are undertaken across the CMG / organisation and with healthcare partners to enable successful delivery.

  • Contribute actively to the quality agenda of the CMG.

  • Provide an appropriate balance of challenge and support to General Managers and Heads of Service in the development and delivery of transformation and in the tracking of activity against plan.

  • Produce project reports for Line Manager, CMG Board and Trust Executive Confirm and Challenge.

  • Expected to contribute to the planning and delivery of CIP through the transformation programme

  • Ensure that transformation outputs and benefits are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standard of quality.

  • Ensure that any adverse changes and their impact are reported to the General Manger and that corrective action and contingency planning is taken where necessary.

  • Raise the profile of positive transformation and training of CMG staff in identifying transformation opportunities and how to deliver changes required.

  • Ensure the use of learning from national best practice as well as previous

  • Undertake audits and use measurement for improvement methodology within change projects to inform service development decision making.

  • To ensure a culture of continuous challenge exists in the CMG ensuring that progressive solutions, which take into account models of best practice, are incorporated into transformation.

  • Work closely with clinicians and managers to ensure that transformation within the CMG results in best quality of patient care in line with national healthcare standards.

  • To implement changes that provide assurance to the CMG Senior Team that specific service areas in the CMG meet or exceed the relevant Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards for registration, and continues to comply with licensing requirements and local healthcare targets.

Governance and Risk

  • Under the leadership of the CMG management team ensure that patient safety is at the centre of the delivery of patient services.

  • Ensure that within the CMG governance and risk management are part of transformational change

  • To help make the case for resources where necessary for submission to the CMG Senior Team to deliver an annual Governance Plan, including relevant clinical audit activity.

  • Promote clinical information for benchmarking and audit to improve the patient experience.

Communication

  • To help establish and maintain effective two way channels of communication within the CMG.

  • To establish lines of communication with other CMG colleagues in the Trust and wider healthcare community if appropriate, to ensure that services are integrated.
