University Hospitals Leicester are delighted to offer the opportunity for the right candidates to come and join our team in Cardiology and Respiratory for afixed term 12 month postwith the possibility of extension.
Trust Grade doctors at UHL will be entitled to take study leave and allocated funding for training and study along with 27 days annual leave per year.
Main duties of the job
The Respiratory Medicine, and Cardiology departments at Glenfield Hospital are one of the largest in the UK and these posts enjoy all the benefits that a large prestigious teaching hospital offers. The department offers MRCP PACEs teaching, weekly cardiorespiratory tutorials, journals clubs and Grand rounds.
The posts benefit from alignment with one of our Consultant firms on a base ward which has at least 4 junior doctors as well as a registrar where you will look after patients with a variety of general and specialist respiratory and cardiology conditions including pleural disease and heart failure. You will be expected to participate in the delivery of services within the department working on both base wards and in our Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU), and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) giving you opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in your chosen Speciality.
The posts are full time and may involve working on a On Call Rota. - Supervise, monitor and assist the Foundation Year (F1) in the day-to-day management of in-patients in posts with an attached F1.
- Liaise between nurses, Doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
- Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled
- Take part in rostered emergency work.
- Dictate discharge summaries.
- Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
- Teach medical students as directed.
- Co-operate with members of the personnel department when monitoring hours of work and other personnel issues.
- Attend induction in each hospital or new department
- Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave
