Job summary

The Neurology Admin team at UHL are looking for a full time admin assistant working over 5 days, Monday to Friday at the Leicester General Hospital (must be able to work until 6pm on occasion).

This is a varied and interesting role and you will be responsible for the flow of patients through the outpatients department and the preparation of medical notes, booking and cancelling of appointments. You will also be working very closely with the Neurology consultants and nurse specialists. You will work closely with the medical secretaries and support them in providing a service to the medical team.

You must possess excellent communication skills, working with deadlines and accurate keyboard skills are essential qualities that we are looking for.

Main duties of the job

  1. To provide an administrative and secretarial service to the clinical / medical teams. This will include:-
  2. To monitor and ensure clinical correspondence is produced and compliant with the Trust quality
  3. Manage dictation, ensuring letters are typed, quality checked, stored in the appropriate hospital system and sent out in a timely manner
  4. Managing the Clinical / Medical Team's filing system
  5. Managing the Clinical / Medical Team work diaries and adjusting plans / schedules as necessary
  6. Maintain the office systems for recording and tracing patient records within the department and assist the Records Department in locating patient records
  7. Minute taking
  8. Ensuring consumable stock levels are adequately maintained in line with service needs
  9. Preparing medical notes and helping prepare clinics.
  10. Cancelling and rebooking appointments.
