We have a substantive Band 7 vacancy on ward 22 Leicester General Hospital

You will also be expected to work Long Day: 07.30 - 20.00 and Night: 19.30 - 08.00 as service needs indicate

As ward Sister you will be expected to work Monday to Friday 07.30 - 15.30

Main duties of the job

As Ward Sister you will

  • Take 24-hour accountability and responsibility for your ward area
  • Be visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers and the public.
  • Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team (including ancillary and clinical support staff) within your area for which they are accountable.
  • Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their ward team an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.
  • Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the ward team, directorate and across the wider organisation.
  • Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement within the ward /unit for which they are responsible.
  • Practice clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a defined caseload. You will be ward based and practice clinically at least 50% of your working time.

This is a responsible and rewarding role, with a direct impact on patients' lives.

The successful candidate will be based at the LRI. With the support of the matron team they will be expected to take on the role of Medical Bleep Holder and ensure safe staffing across the Specialist Medicine Wards to provide seamless support for patients.
