Job summary

There is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to work alongside our emergency floor staff as a clinical Aide. You will work within the emergency floor team and wider MDT.

The role involves taking a patient's blood for testing, completing ECG's, putting in cannulas for patients. You will be allocated to attend to wards across the emergency floor.

To apply you must have competencies in venepuncture, ECG taking and cannulation.

The role will involve working long days, weekends and night shifts.

Main duties of the job

Acute Medical Unit (AMU/AMU North ) Leicester Royal InfirmaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced Band 3 Health Care Assistant to join the team on AMUat the LRI.AMU is a busy Acute Medical Assessment unit that admits patients from the Emergency Department and via GP's.

Phlebotomy, cannulation and ECG skills are essential for the role. You will need to be competent in all these skills. You will need to have completed the care certificate with Health Care Assistant experience in a hospital environment for 2 years .You will need to show proof of these skills at interview.You will be asked to complete a Maths and English test at interview. A required pass rate is essential for employment. Excellent communication skills anddemonstration of team work is essential for this position.The role requires excellent essential patient care skills and a desire to provide high quality nursing care with a compassionate approach for emergency patients.This ability to work autonomously, plan a daily workload and be an integral part of a fast paced emergency team is essential to the role.

You will need to have all skills as per the advert and person specification and be competent in Cannulation. Venepuncture / ECG and hold a Care Certificate with relevant years hospital experience.

You will be required to work an internal rotation shift pattern, long days, weekends , bank holidays and nights.
