Job summary

The GPAU service would like to bring all General Practitioner and suitable Emergency Department direct referred medical patients directly to the Acute Medicine department by bypassing the Emergency Department and ensuring medical patients are seen by an Acute Medic first time.

We have an excellent education program to provide on-going development and support to you . We also have the opportunities to develop triage and assessment skills in GPAU

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated nurses who possess excellent communication skills and enjoy a challenge. You will join a forward thinking multi-disciplinary team dedicated to delivering high standards of care in a challenging environment. Applicants must enjoy a fast pace acute environment as well as having a keen interest in caring in these acute settings.

Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic nurse for the band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse role in GPAU. We are looking for an experienced Band 5 or 6 nurse with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate effective leadership. You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and passionate about emergency care and you need to be committed to improving service delivery.

To be considered for this role, you will be a registered nurse with demonstrable clinical expertise . Recent acute experience in an acute setting is essential.

Job responsibilities

  1. Perform comprehensive assessments of patients nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing healthcare needs.
  2. Take responsibility for the care needs of individuals and groups of patients.
  3. Collect, collate and fully accurately report patient information, maintaining accurate, completeand contemporaneous nursing records.
