Job summary

We are seeking 4 highly motivated, hard-working, forward thinking individuals who are interested in learning about the purchasing of goods and services for our Hospitals whilst gaining valuable business administration skills.

This is a great opportunity to learn how the Trust purchases goods and services that enable our hospitals to function and operate whilst ensuring we buy the right products, at the right price in a timely and compliant way whilst achieving the best possible value.

Working as part of the procurement team based at County Hall, Glenfield, you will have the opportunity to develop skills that help provide a comprehensive and effective administration service as well as gaining an insight into the provision of administration in the NHS whilst studying towards the level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Our Commitment to you is to help you gain a qualification in Health & Social Care/Business Administration or Customer Service (Dependent on which speciality you apply for) within a 16 month contract. Hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week with a salary of p/w.

To qualify for the apprenticeship role the minimum criteria is:-

  • You must have GCSE in English and Maths
  • Have not completed an apprenticeship at the same level and sector in the past.
  • You do not have a Degree in a similar or same subject

As part of the apprentice scheme you will have study days which will be discussed at the recruitment day.

Main duties of the job

As an administration apprentice you will given the knowledge and skills to perform a variety of administration and clerical tasks to support the procurement teams. You will be involved in using the different types of systems , processes and procedures that support the purchasing of the products and services.

The main duties include :

  • Liaise with suppliers by email or telephone
  • Enter and update information on to the contracts database
  • Run and analyse supplier usage reports
  • Help in processing orders
  • Set up paperwork for products to be added to the internal catalogue

  • Assist the Category Teams by researching products and services to support procurement activities
  • Arrange meetings, events such as product review sessions, request product samples to support category leads with procurement activities
  • Compile, review and analyse electronic data from the Trusts reporting systems
  • Assist in covering the procurement mailbox, new supplier forms and D&B credit reports
  • Assist in resolving product, invoice or service queries relating to contracts and liaising with team members to follow up on issues
