JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse OPD
BAND: 5
BASE: Your base will be Melton Mowbray Hospital, and as a team we cover Rutland Memorial Hospital. There will be times when you will be required to provide cross site cover at the other LLR Alliance Community Hospital sites which are at Loughbrough, Oakham, Coalville, Market Harborough and Hinckley.
HOURS: 37.5 hours
REPORTS TO: Deputy Sister OPD
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Matron / Head of Nursing
Main duties of the job
Melton Outpatients Department supports a friendly, progressive and encouraging working environment, within very pleasant surroundings, where the focus of all effort is to continually enhance patient care delivery whilst supporting the multi-disciplinary specialties that use our services.
We are looking forward to welcoming a dynamic, compassionate, motivated and caring Band 5 Staff Nurse in to our friendly, forward thinking Outpatient Family.You will have the opportunity to develop new skills and consolidate existing skills whilst working as part of a strong and cohesive team.
Melton Outpatients is a diverse, multi-disciplinary environment which caters for a number of specialties which includes Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, Respiratory, Cardiology, ENT, Gynae, Orthopaedics, Podiatry, Gastro and Diabetes. As well as supporting/assisting in clinician led clinics there will also be an opportunity to train and become part of our nurse led Phototherapy Team.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with your colleagues and service users.
Good organisational skills and a flexible approach to work are essential.
Cross site travel may be required on occasions.

- To work within the Phototherapy Team following completion of the Phototherapy competency package. Attendance of a 3 day Phototherapy course in Cardiff will also be required.
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to groups of patients.
- Assisting and contributing in the management and organisation of a clinical area within the Outpatients Department.
- Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
- Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
- To participate in the counselling of patients as required following diagnoses and/or bad news.
- To assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors reporting any accidents or potential hazards.
- Contribute to the development of new services, new ways of working and the implementation of change.
- To support/assist clinicians within all specialties following training as required.
