Job summary

The Hearing services Department based at The Leicester Royal Infirmary are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team, working in a busy friendly environment.

You must have a pleasant manner and be able to work as part of a team, who doesn't mind helping out with other duties from time to time but also has the ability to work unsupervised. . If you are an organised and hard working person with good communication and interpersonal skills who can interact with patients and colleagues at all level then we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

To provide a courteous, responsive and effective administrative and clerical support to the Hearing Services Department, to support the team by working efficiently and accurately as part of the administration support team.

To contact Hearing Services patients by; telephone, sending confirmation letters, collating patient results and maintaining systems and databases.

To work within the Hearing Services multidisciplinary team across 8 sites throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Liaise with all wards and other department staff in order to raise the profile of the Hearing Services department and ensure efficient provision of service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide support to the Hearing Services team from a clerical perspective and to facilitate the smooth running of all administrative and clerical processes and procedures.

  • Help maintain effective maintenance of Patient records on Practice Navigator PMS assist with data processing and updating of the system.

  • To deal with non-routine and emergency demands for appointments promptly and effectively.

  • Maintain and update diaries, arranging appointments, rescheduling clinics when required.

  • To handle all telephone calls in a courteous, professional manner, paying particular attention to the needs of each individual caller.

  • To take messages and relay these accurately and promptly.

  • To prepare Balance/Test clinics ensuring all case notes regarding previous test results are collated on file for the consultants information following review of all relevant files prior to clinic.

  • Monitor and review patient records on Practice navigator on an on-going basis and ensure outcomes and procedures for attendance at clinics.

  • Cover reception duties for clerical staff when absent and any other duties that may be required
