JOB SUMMARYApplications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurology. This is a replacement post which will enhance the current establishment of the Paediatric Neurology Team and the Childrens Hospital within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL).
The Leicester Paediatric Neurology Service is based in the Leicester Children's Hospital at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI). The paediatric neurology team provides secondary and tertiary services to the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) communities in addition to working in partnership with surrounding NHS Trusts to provide specialist care to patients.
This post is fixed term for a period of 12 months and sub speciality experience in Paediatric Neurology would be beneficial. The appointment will be full time i.e. 40 hours per week and includes participation on the children's hospital on call rota.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide support to the consultants in outpatient and inpatient care of paediatric neurology patients including conducting supervised outpatient clinics- To work with general paediatric colleagues and the Neurology SPR to provide middle grade daytime cover for neurology patients.- To participate in the general paediatric on call rota covering the paediatric medical wards- To arrange for admissions and Investigations for neurology patients and liaise with other specialists locally and nationally as appropriate.- To help with administrative work of the consultants including liaising with GPs, community paediatricians, epilepsy nurses, Local government and others.- To participate in audit, research and educational activities and maintain CPD.
The candidate should ideally have completed training in general paediatrics. Those with sub speciality experience in paediatric neurology would be preferred. This would be an ideal job for post CCST candidates looking for developing sub speciality interest in paediatric neurology.

Training will be given in the care and management of children with a wide range of neurological problems and the applicant will be encouraged to attend national and international meetings.
