Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent position as an Administration Manager in the Specialist Medicine Clinical Management Group within the Endocrinology Department.

We are looking to recruit an individual who wants to develop their management skills, is patient focused, enthusiastic and hard working with good attention to detail. We are a large and busy healthcare provider and want staff who are resilient, focused and who have a 'can do attitude'.

As detailed further in the job description, you will be responsible for the operational running of a large administration team, ensuring the smooth running of our clinics and performance targets are met, staff appraisals are undertaken and sickness/absence is managed in line with trust policy.

You will work closely with your Service Manager, General Manager and clinical teams to ensure effective service development, operational management and delivery of high quality patient services for your clinical services.

Main duties of the job

To work within a team ensuring cover is provided at all times to maintain an essential service.

To actively participate in the sharing of skills and experience in the clinic team associated with each specialty aiding the spread of good practice throughout the team.

To attend in-service training or meetings to ensure that skills and knowledge are kept up-to-date and appropriate to the post.

To attend all mandatory training as required by the Trust.

The Administration Manager is accountable to the Service Manager for the effective operational management of the Administration and Clerical Teams (A&C Teams) - which includes all Clinic Co-ordinators, Administrators, MDT Co-ordinators and Medical Secretaries within the Endocrinology department, ensuring high quality patient care services are delivered within the resources available.

In conjunction with the Service Manager, the admin manager will provide operational leadership and undertake day to day line management of the admin and clerical teams to include all aspects of RTT, Out Patients, Transcription and Administrative processes. This will be done in conjunction to encompass the management of all resources and the achievement of agreed performance objectives within the context of National and Trust frameworks and standards.

With other members of the management teams (Heads of Service, General and Service Manager) ensure continuity of service and suggest efficiency improvements to enhance the patient care services.

The post holder will ensure cohesion in working to the Trust standards, in providing a high quality service for patients.
