The Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) is the largest diabetes research group in the UK with a reputation for excellence in research and education on a local, national and global level. We over 140 staff employed through the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) and the University of Leicester (UofL) and operate a large and complex financial model.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled, dynamic and highly motivated individual to take on the role as the LDC's Senior Finance Business Partner.
The post holder will become an integral member of the LDC senior management team to help shape and influence the financial, and wider research, strategy; and to develop a robust financial model that incorporates all aspect of financial management, planning, monitoring, evaluation and reconciliation.
To be successful the post holder must hold a professional financial qualification and have significant experience in a finance management role. The post holder will need at least five year's relevant experience, be able think strategically, demonstrate highly developed problem-solving skills involving complex financial data, and possess line management experience.

Main duties of the job
Due to the complexity of our income and expenditure and its distribution across UHL and UoL, the post holder will require excellent communications skills to enable cross organisational working, be able to conduct financial negotiations at all levels, interpret complex financial information for 'non-finance' senior managers and directors. The post holder will have access to two different financial ledger systems and work with colleagues across both organisations.
The post holder will report to the LDC Directors through the Assistant Director of Operations and will be professionally accountable to the Chief Finance Officer through the Head of Financial Management - Research & Innovation.
