BASE: Your primary base will be Leicester Royal Infirmary; however travelbetween UHL's hospital sites will be required
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week (worked between 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Sunday inclusive)

Main duties of the job
We have a new vacancy for a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to work on the Specialist Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (SNRU) at Leicester General Hospital.
The Occupational Therapy Technical instructor role on Specialist Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (SNRU) is to support the Qualified Occupational Therapists and be member of a large supportive Therapy Team. This role also supports multi-disciplinary team providing specialist neuro rehabilitation working under the guidance of qualifiedOccupational Therapists.
You will implement and adapt treatment programmes within your scope of practice, including physical rehabilitation through the use of Therapeutic activities. You will focus on supporting activities of daily living and cognitive rehabilitation.This post requires enthusiasm and motivation to work within this clinical area and we are looking for applicants with effective communication skills, prioritisation and organisational skills. The ability to work on your own and as part of a team, to use your initiative and be able to work effectively and efficiently is essential. Previous experience as an OT assistantwithin Therapy (Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy) at Band 2 or equivalent in a health/social care or associated area is essential.
Post holders will work their core hours Monday to Friday but will also be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a roster system.

- To carry out support duties such as photocopying, filing, data collection inputting. To administer and manage stock levels within the department.
- To ensure that patient equipment, assessment equipment etc. and the occupational therapy treatment environment are maintained in a safe and hygienic condition. To report faults and organise safe disposal of equipment.
- To be responsible for and participate in the clinical governance strategy for the occupational therapy department and Trust including risk, health and safety etc.
- To maintain high standards of written and verbal communication with occupational therapy colleagues, patients, carers and other health professionals.
- Take part in training to relevant team members e.g. Tiara and the use of equipment.
- Achieve accurate and timely inputting of patient data created by all staff within the musculoskeletal.
- Deliver education and training relating to specific interventions, exercise and rehab to colleagues, patients, carers and others.
- Generate reports/letters/bookings from a computerised system and in paper format.
- To participate in the induction of qualified Occupational Therapy staff, Students, Technical Instructors, Assistants and other staff.
- To be involved in clinical audit and related governance activity within the service.
