Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Deputy sister on the Endoscopy Unit at Glenfield hospital. This is a JAG accredited unit with 3 procedure rooms and a further room used for ERCP in the Radiology Department. We provide a 7 day a week service covering the hours of 7.30am to 9.30pm including an overnight on call service for emergencies.

The unit delivers a high standards to achieve the best quality service and outcome for our patients during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. These includes Gastroscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bowel Cancer Screening, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Bronchoscopy, Endoscopic Bronchial Ultrasound, Trans Oesophageal Echo and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography.

Main duties of the job

The Band 6 Deputy sister/charge nurse will clinically lead the nursing team to deliver a high standard of care in everything they do.The post holder will undertake assessment, implementation, development, evaluation and delivery of nursing care to a wide range of patients abiding by local and national polices and procedures the post holder will act as a role module and take overall charge and responsibility of the endoscopy unit in the absence of a more senior nurse. The post holder will deliver and evaluate training needs of the department and organise training days working closely with the other two endoscopy units.

The post holder will ensure the cleanliness of the unit and ensure all correct infection prevention measures are under taken.The post holder will collect and evaluate patient and staff feedback and put into place any measures needed to improve the service.The post holder will work closely with the whole multi disciplinary team including admin offering help and advice when needed.
