The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) East Midlands supports the delivery of high-quality research in the NHS, public health & social care, and other Independent Health Care settings across the East Midlands.
Hosted by the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, we work with partners to deliver research across Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. We are funded by the Department of Health and Social Care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of our CRN East Midlands flexible workforce Direct Delivery Team. We are looking for an Administrator who is keen to gain more experience in supporting the conduct of research across differing specialties and settings, supporting commercial and non commercial clinical research.
We are seeking to appoint a Band 3 Administrator, to be part of a small team of research staff in our Leicestershire Hub. The post holder will be based at our Leicestershire office, within Leicester Royal Infirmary, however extensive travelling across the county will be expected, and some travel across the East Midlands will be required.
This post is a 2 year fixed term contract within the NHS; you will be responsible for your own workload and support colleagues to carry out their caseloads of NIHR portfolio clinical research trials/ studies.
Main duties of the job
To support NIHR portfolio research projects across the network contributing to a comprehensive, efficient and effective administration service within research under the guidance and supervision of research teams and study investigators.
To support the DDT Transformation Leads/ Regional Leads with general administration such as filing, HR paperwork and processes etc.
Traditionally, the majority of healthcare research has been conducted in secondary care settings, however, the research landscape is changing and this post will be vital in supporting the LCRN in adapting to this change. The post holder will join us at a very exciting time for the CRN East Midlands, through the Transformation of Research Delivery programme, it intends to develop its ability to respond to public health requirements and be best placed to respond to the changing research landscape. Our Direct Delivery Team flexible workforce has built a reputation of excellence, providing researchers with a service to achieve high quality outcomes. With ambitious plans to expand the team and provide development opportunities to provide the team with the skills required to support the delivery of research in public health, community and social care settings.

- CRN funded clinical research delivery staff in partner NHS Trusts/Organisations/ISHP/Local Authorities/Social Care/Care Homes (e.g. doctors, nurses, AHPs and other clinicians and practitioners).
- CRN COO, Deputy COO, Senior Nurse, Workforce Development Lead , Study Support Service Team, & other wider CRN team.
- Network Research Delivery Managers/ Research Operations Managers/specialty Leads.

Key Result Areas
Process Responsibilities
- Prepare medical records for patient/monitoring visits
- Ensure that patients details are recorded on the appropriate computerised system
- Ensure that results of all requested tests and investigations are available
- File results into notes/protocol paperwork in accordance with research policy
- Maintains appointment diaries as and when required
- Provide simple secretarial support to research team
Communication
- Liaise with clinical trial patients when required
- Liaise effectively and courteously with colleagues, patients and visitors
- Report all information concisely to the appropriate individuals
- Ensure that written information is legible and recorded appropriately
- Deal with telephone enquiries
- Comply with the data protection act and maintains confidentiality of all information concerning patients, relatives, staff, hospital trust and CLRN
- Liaise with other specialities regarding meetings, appointments and research education events

- Demonstrate an awareness of the need for good customer relations in all aspects of the role
