Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated administrator to support clinical research studies taking place at the Leicester Diabetes Centre.

The Centre forms one of the largest facilities in Europe for conducting first class clinical research in diabetes and other long term health conditions. We are dedicated to ensuring that people with diabetes and other long term health conditions live long, healthy lives.

The post holder will work alongside other administrators to provide support to the Trial Managers/Coordinators and Research Nurses in all aspects of research project administration and will provide general administration services to assist with the efficient running of the Leicester Diabetes Centre and the trial management team.

The role involves tasks such as data entry, mail box management, arranging meetings, booking rooms, minute taking, site file management, contacting patients to arrange appointments, producing appointment/results letters, ordering of supplies, logging of all study expenditure and archiving.

Main duties of the job

The post will involve liaison with all grades of staff in a multi-disciplinary department therefore the ability to communicate clearly, calmly and effectively with a broad range of people is important. The successful candidate will be able to use a range of Microsoft Office applications, demonstrate competency in data entry and have the ability to manage their own time and work with minimal supervision. Organisational skills and the ability to work both on your own and as part of a team are essential. The post requires flexibility and the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. NHS Experience in a research environment is preferred but not essential.

Leicester Diabetes Centre is a partnership between the NHS, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, and is academically affiliated with the University of Leicester. The centre has attracted a range of prestigious National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) funded infrastructure and other funding notably from the British Heart Foundation, European Union, Medical Research Council and Diabetes UK. The centre also hosts a local NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC), and NIHR BRC (Biomedical Research Centre) theme in Diet, Lifestyle and Physical Activity, and (NIHR)-funded Patient Recruitment Centre (PRC) for commercial research.
