Applications are invited for a Clinical Oncologist with an interest in skin and CRC & anal malignancies.
The University Hospitals of Leicester's Oncology service forms part of "SEMOC" (the South East Midlands Oncology Centre) which with Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust forms one of the UK's largest oncology centres. Weprovide high quality patient care as well as being a leader in clinical trials andserve the 1.6 million joint population of Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire, ensuring a viable and dynamic service able to meet future specialist commissioning requirements.
For several years we have also been one of the few nationally accredited centres for SABR for the treatment of oligometastases and support and training can be provided for the successful candidate. With the recent roll out of SABR we have been supporting other local Trusts.
We are currently working through a large scale replacement programme, at the end of which we will have four "state of the art" Truebeam linacs capable of delivering modern and innovative treatments as well as a purpose built brachytherapy suite which will enable the development of the brachytherapy service.
The appointment will be 7 - 10 PAs. Any Consultant who is unable for personal reasons, to work whole time, will be eligible to be considered for the post. .
Main duties of the job
- To be a core member of a dynamic medical team aiming to deliver first class cancer care to the East
- To specialise in the delivery of radiotherapy for Colorectal/Anal and Skin
- To specialise in the systemic treatment of Colorectal/Anal and Skin. Participate in the Colorectal/Anal and Skin MDTs working closely with surgical, Radiology Palliative Care and Oncology colleagues to provide a seamless service.

- To undertake clinical and managerial responsibility for the agreed oncology specialties and patients. This includes liaison with consultant colleagues, other clinicians, other hospital staff and general practitioners involved the diagnosis and management of oncology patients

- To show responsibility for professional standards within oncology and ensure compliance with the standards required to satisfy national standards and the local quality system
- To work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team in the CMG
