Job summary

Education, training and the development of the pharmacy workforce is vital to achieve excellent patient care. UHL have always been forward thinking in the role of the pharmacy technician within the wider team and this is a new opportunity developed in conjunction with The School of Pharmacy at De Montfort University to educate and train pharmacy students at an undergraduate level. You will be expected to teach onrelevant topics across all years on the undergraduate MPharm degree at De Montfort University, including dispensing skills and medicines reconciliation. Teaching may be in the form of lectures, seminars, workshops and case studies. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in assessment preparation and marking. The role will also involve in assisting with delivery of experiential learning in secondary care as part of the newly accredited undergraduate degree. The postholder will provide leadership and support to improve and enhance the experiential learning and placement opportunities available to students, which will include quality assurance of any opportunities.

We are looking for an individual with a passion for education and leadership who will be a role model for the next generation of pharmacy professionals. Experience of teaching in a higher education role is not essential as training will be provided, but experience of educating or coaching other pharmacy professionals in a clinical environment is essential.

Main duties of the job

To lead the delivery of training and assessing the competency of pre-registration pharmacy technicians and where appropriate, pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists and newly qualified pharmacists, in conjunction with the pharmacy professional development team.

Developing, implementing, managing and monitoring safe, effective, efficient and evidence based pharmacy services, particularly but not limited to own defined area of responsibility

To develop and deliver clinically relevant dispensing training for the undergraduate MPharm degree at the DMU School of Pharmacy.
