Business Support Officer - Catering Services

Job summary

To assist the Catering Managers in providing efficient Business Support Services to the Retail & Patient Catering Teams.

To lead Trust wide on a range of catering projects & procedural activities to include but not limited to; Electronic Meal Ordering, Food Supply Cost & Waste Analysis, Income Generation, Financial Analysis & Target Monitoring. Identify/monitor CIP targets, support departments achieve & maintain highest ratings with Environmental Health standards. Support site leads with industry specific training targets. Liaising with stakeholders on service provision in line with the National Food Standards in Health Care.

To develop & produce timely reports & presentations for the Senior Management Team in relation to strategy and performance. Assist with formal internal & external stakeholder meetings.

Provide training & information guides to Nursing, Dietetics, Facilities support & external organisations on a range of topics to include Food Safety & Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, Nutrition & Hydration, Protected Meal Times, PLACE requirements.

To develop, establish & introduce appropriate monitoring, management, analysis & reporting techniques supporting the management of information & service performance.

Support the site teams evaluation of performance against targets & service provision using accurate, timely & proactive measurement in both Trust and National continuous improvement initiatives.

Main duties of the job

To provide a quality performance function which demonstrates and delivers an integrated administration for the department's operational management.

1. To work across functions and in conjunction with supervisors, team leaders and managers in monitoring the provision and application of performance measures.

2. Apply acquired experience of the department's functional practice and procedures along with knowledge of reporting arrangements, to develop (and influence as appropriate) the collection of information.

3. To assess in a methodical manner the fact and trend in performance as presented by information acquired, and to present this taking account of past reporting and future projections.

4. To programme, plan and organise the site team's performance reporting to; ensure information requirements are met; requested service changes are reported and the reporting of the impact on service provision is measured and recorded.

5. To develop, negotiate and implement procedures and practice supporting the performance management requirement, ensuring a regular and consistent application of weekly and monthly data collection.

Our catering teams provide food to our patients, visitors & staff 365 days a year & both our patient & retail services work together across our three acute sites at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital Boston & Grantham & District Hospital. They operate in a fast paced environment with compassion & care to ensure that each patient & customer always comes first.

Quality, nutritious food is instrumental in supporting patients achieve optimum recovery during their stays on our sites and our retail areas provide much needed food for our staff during busy shifts.
