Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse/Theatre Practitioner/ODP to join the operating theatre team at County Hospital Louth as part of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT). The successful candidates will be expected to rotate into anaesthetics, recovery and scrub to allow flexibility within the service.

Hours will nominally be from 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours Monday to Friday. However, There will be an expectation of travel to other sites within the trust to assist in maintaining safe staffing levels as required.

Main duties of the job

The Operating Department has 2 Theatres, which currently provide day case services for Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Breast, Gynaecological Day Case, Urology, Maxillo-Facial and Orthopaedic surgery in line with the Recovery phase post COVID.

You will work as part of the Multi-professional theatre team to provide care during the delivery of clinical services. The role requires the planning and delivery of own work load, organising equipment and resources as service demands and in accordance with policies and protocols.

Continuation of professional development is expected through post registration study. The role requires an ability to work on own initiative within the appropriate legal requirements, acts, policies, procedures and guidelines. The role requires a level of autonomy to practice governed by the code of professional conduct.

Theatre experienced ODP/Nurse with a knowledge of health and safety, infection control and moving and handling. The successful applicants must be able to communicate effectively with all members of the multi professional team.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
