Applications are invited for the above post to commence in October 2025 until 1st September 2026 subject to satisfactory appraisal.

The post will afford the trainees the opportunity to acquire broad training and exposure in the different aspects of the Dental Core Training Curriculum and in preparation for MJDF, MFDS and FRCS examinations. The attraction is the successful trainees will have lots of exposure and hands-on Oral Surgery procedures; including IV sedation, audit participation and weekly teaching.

Main duties of the job

The work at ULHT covers many aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with particular interest in Head and Neck Cancer diagnosis, Orthognathic Surgery, Maxillofacial Trauma and extensive exposure to Dento-alveolar surgery. There is extensive opportunity for senior led hands on experience in all clinical areas including clinics, minor oral surgery and main theatres. Significant experience will also be gained in the Accident & Emergency Department managing Oral & maxillofacial emergency attendances. The post holder will assist in the day-to-day care of patients on the ward. This will entail some clerking, preparation of operating lists and attendance on the daily ward round. The department operates a modified twilight on call rota. Teaching and audit are regularly undertaken every Friday pm. This post is ideal for those wishing to pursue further training in a dental sub specialty. There is opportunity to attend Orthodontic sessions and Intravenous sedation sessions.

This fixed term post will predominantly be in Lincoln County Hospital (hub) where a broad range of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is conducted and further training opportunities in Pilgrim Hospital Boston (PHB), Grantham and Louth hospitals.
