We have an exciting opportunity here atUnited Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals Trust NHS Trust for a full time Specialty Doctor with Full MRCP within the Acute Medicine Department in our Lincoln County Hospital.
This post offers an opportunity to expand and broaden your experience in a friendly and supportive environment.The Job Plan consists of 10 programmed activities plus 2.16 additional PA's for the on call element.
This is a consultant led with 557-bedded unit that serves 172 general medical and care of the elderly beds including coronary care and renal beds. There is a 51 bedded Medical Emergency Admissions Unit (MEAU) comprising 26 assessment beds and a 25 bedded ward. There is a separate 18 bedded Surgical Assessment Unit. There is a large, well-staffed Accident and Emergency Department. There are at present 108 general surgical beds, a 20 bed critical care unit (level 2 and level 3), a 10 theatre suite and 3 orthopaedic wards. There is an Ophthalmic Unit, Adult Day Care Unit, an ENT department and a purpose built fully equipped department of Clinical Oncology.

The successful candidate will be a full time appointment based at either Lincoln County Hospital and will support the interface between the Emergency Department and Acute Medicine.
The principal duties are responsibilities of the post are listed below:-
Acute Medicine
Assist Acute Physician in the care of acute medical take patients from GPs or Emergency Department
- The post holder is responsible for the admission, clerking and day-to-day care of patients on the IAC (Integrated Assessment Centre), the Emergency Department (medical referrals) and Acute Medical Short Stay Unit, as required.
- Independent ward rounds on AMU where consultant post-take complete
- Participating in Ambulatory and/or Acute Medicine outpatients clinics with consultant supervision
- Performing practical procedures and supervising/teaching practical procedures for junior trainees
- Expediting and acting upon investigations
- Assisting in the facilitation of early discharge where appropriate
- Perform relevant clinical tasks to facilitate discharge e.g. completing Electronic Discharge form
- Participation in the teaching rota for the department
- Participation in departmental audit/QI
- Opportunities to gain experience in the areas of the Acute Medicine consultants' special interest where rota allows
- Teaching of medical and physician associate students
- Other appropriate duties and responsibilities

- Provide strong local clinical leadership on the shop floor by collaborating, supporting, and delegating appropriately to all members of the MDT. This is of paramount importance in order to achieve the Trust vision of outstanding care, personally delivered.
- Undertake such other duties as may be identified to meet the needs of the service;
- Take part in the on-call rota at Lincoln County Hospital for emergency duties and provide, on a reciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence;
- On-call duties include timely Senior Review of new admissions;
- Carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the Postgraduate Medical Education programme and in the teaching and assessment of junior medical staff and be involved in the education of nursing staff, General Practitioners and other clinical professions;
- Attend department team meetings;
- Have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and for the proper functioning of the department;
- Take part in team, department, regional and national audits;
- Be involved in research where appropriate;
- Participate in the management of the Acute Medicine Service;
- Continue their professional development to support annual appraisal and 5 yearly revalidation
- Once fully established we are looking at rolling out CESR opportunities.
