Ward 8A is an 29 bedded unit, which specialises in Gastroenterology and Endocrinology.

The Ward Receptionist is an integral member of the ward team who acts as an interface between the unit, hospital services, patients , families and the public.

To perform clerical duties to assist with the smooth running of Ward 8A.

Main duties of the job

To provide a friendly and informative first contact within the unit.Undertaking reception duties, dealing with hospital staff, visitors and members of the public in an efficient, polite and courteous manner, answering queries, and communicating complex information where there may be barriers to understanding. Persuasion, motivational and negotiating skills are essential. Maintaining security and privacy at all times is of paramount importance.

2. General telephonist responsibilities- dealing with telephone enquiries,communicating effectively with the ward team, patients, families and visitors, as well as other hospitals and transport teams whilst maintaining patient confidentiality.3. Prioritise workloads - responding to emergency factors and situationseffectively.Inputting and updating details on the Careflow system in a timely waye.g. Registering patients, producing, tracking and retrieving notes.Transfer & discharge of patients ensuring that all details are correct

Assisting the Clinical Staff regarding queries.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
