Job summary
This position is a whole time (10 PA), or maximum part time, replacement Fixed Term Consultant Emergency General Surgeon , appointment for the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. There is the option of additional PA's in agreement with the successful candidate. However, any additional PA's will be reviewed annually through the job planning process.
If the person appointed elects to undertake a maximum part time contract, he / she will be required to devote substantially the whole of his / her professional time to the duties of the post and to give them priority at all times.
Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Main duties of the job
This is a Consultant based service and the Consultant will have continuing responsibility for the patients in his/her charge and to assist in the proper functioning of the department. He/she will be responsible for the pre-operative counselling, assessment and investigations, the surgery, post-operative inpatient care and outpatient review.
