Job summary

We are looking for an versatile, enthusiastic and hardworking Band 4 Associate Practitioner / Nursing Associate with a great team spirit to join our nursing team in the outpatients' department on the Lincoln site. This role is rewarding and varied and you will be joining a large outpatient team and will be working alongside our already established assistant practitioner.

The Ophthalmic clinic works across a 7-day working week, covering an on call service at the weekends and on bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of a large team seeing over 100 patients a day. Your tasks will vary from testing visual acuity and eye pressures to using state of the art technology for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Ophthalmic photography. There will be opportunities to assist during intravitreal injections and minor surgeries.

Essential

  • Assistant Practitioner Qualification and/or BTEC Level 4 Healthcare Science Diploma (band 3 training position may be offered to candidates willing to study).
  • Nursing Associate with current NMC Registration

Desirable

  • NVQ 3 in health related area (or equivalent)
  • AHPO Level 5 Diploma in Ophthalmic and Vision Science
  • Nursing Associate certification and registration

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Current experience in clinical health care practice, ideally within a surgical setting
  • Insight into the role of the AP/NA within Outpatients
  • Ability to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Insight into the role of the AP within Outpatients

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and as part of a multi disciplinary team
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Understanding of the role of the assistant practitioner in Ophthalmic Outpatients
  • Basic understanding of common conditions relating to Surgical Admissions Lounge
  • Understanding of and adherence to boundaries of practice and professional conduc
  • Ability to collect, record and organise information and data systematically
  • Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care
