Job summary

  1. Job Purpose

To oversee technicians, craftsmen, maintenance assistants and Day to Day to Contractors in the day to day management. Working with the Estates Operations Officers to lead and direct a multidisciplinary team of of the operations and maintenance of the hospital estate to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Main duties of the job

Working with the Estates Operations Officers to efficiently and effectively manage/plan/organise, on a day to day basis, the flexible delivery of services by a multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary direct labour workforce and specialist contractors in accordance with Trust policies.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completed an apprenticeship or other appropriate training in a mechanical or building services engineering environment
  • BTEC ONC or equivalent in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Specialist technical training in plant, infrastructure and building services.
  • Additional Hospital Engineering related certified training
  • Management Qualifications

Previous Experience

Essential

  • A number of years within a maintenance environment demonstrating basic level of understanding of Estates delivery and maintenance.
  • Aware of Health & Safety legislation
  • Experienced in working in a demanding customer driven service.
  • Experienced in working to deadlines.
  • Demonstrable experience of making judgements on estates and maintenance issues taking into account legislation and H&S
  • Experience in managing a multidisciplinary engineering team
