United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for full or part time qualified mammographers, already in possession of a Society of Radiographers, NHSBSP approved certificate of mammography, to join the team in Lincolnshire. Your application will not be considered at this time if you do not hold this qualification.

The Lincolnshire Breast Screening Service serves a population of approximately 100,000 women aged between 50 and 71 years. The service has 3 static units (Boston, Lincoln and Grantham) plus 2 mobile units which rotate through 12 sites across Lincolnshire.

Diagnostic breast imaging services are also provided from Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.

The breast imaging service currently has five Siemens Inspiration Digital Mammography units and three new Hologic Dimensions units with tomosynthesis and stereo biopsy capabilities. The Trust is supported by GE PACS and is part of the EMRAD consortium.

The post holder will be expected to have the ability to travel across the county when required in the provision of the Trust wide service. A full, valid UK driving licence is therefore essential as our mobile sites are remote and alternative travel options are not easily accessible here in rural Lincolnshire. In order to support transport requirements, we have departmental pool cars for staff to use for work purposes.

Previous candidates need not apply.

Main duties of the job

For this role you will hold a degree or equivalent (DCR or BSc Radiography) recognised by the College of Radiographers, an NHSBSP approved post graduate award in Mammography and hold a current registration with the HCPC.

The successful applicant will be reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic with good organisational and communication skills. The ability to integrate well with the existing team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement is essential. A flexible attitude to work is essential.

Due to the nature of the work, mammography posts have a gender protected character. This is a genuine occupational requirement and as a result this post is exempt under Schedule 9; Part1 of the Equality Act 2010
