Job summary

This is an exiting opportunity to join the Children's Palliative Care and Short Breaks Team that provides periods of short break care and family support to children and young people with life limiting conditions within the child or young person's home. This will include evenings, occasional nights, occasional weekends and before school visits. The care provided is child and family-centered to allow them to use their allocated time as they would wish. The aim of the service is to provide high quality short break care/palliative care to children whilst enhancing the quality of life for the whole family. The team are based at Grantham Hospital but cover the whole County of Lincolnshire so applicants are welcome from all areas. This is a 2 year fixed term opportunity whilst the current post holder undertakes Nursing Associate training within the Trust.

Please note this position will not commence until April 1st or after.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will perform specific interventions as identified by competency achievement to enhance the delivery of care such as, but not exclusively: enteral feeding, tracheostomy care, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, medication administration- oral, enteral, rectal, sublingual and buccal, physiological observations, wound management.

You will receive training in moving and handling, life support, and any other areas that are identified as necessary to meet the individual child's care needs. This will include nasogastric feeding, gastrostomy care, ventilator care, airway management including tracheostomy care and seizure management.

The role requires the applicant to travel across Lincolnshire so it is essential that you have the ability to travel independently throughout Lincolnshire. You must hold a current driving license and be a car user.
