Job summary

The Ophthalmology team at Boston Pilgrim Hospital is extremely busy seeing patients both on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

The Specialty Co-Ordinator is vital to the smooth running of the Department not only providing an efficient administrative service to the Consultants and their teams but line managing the medical secretaries and secretarial assistants in the team.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Ophthalmology Team at Boston. If you consider yourself to be motivated, hard-working and a committed individual this is the role for you.

The role is full time and will be based at Boston covering 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 16.30pm but part time hours over 30 are also welcome to apply. The working days are Monday-Friday but hours from 8am - 6pm would be considered as well as offering an opportunity to work from home as well as from the base site office.

Main duties of the job

You need a sound administration background and be both enthusiastic and committed to providing an excellent service to the Department.

Responsible for day to day line management of medical secretaries, secretarial assistants and elective access clerks including allocation and checking of work and training and development of staff.

  • Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing skills to RSA III or equivalent experience.
  • GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent and Mathematics

Desirable

  • 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent
  • AMSPAR - Medical Terminology Certificate
  • Stage 1 - Management Development or equivalent
  • NVQ III or equivalent
  • D32/33 Assessor Award or equivalent

Previous Experience
