Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Night Switchboard Operator post at Grantham Hospital, fixed term for one year.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated individuals to join the Estates and Facilities Department's hospital Switchboard team. This high profile role calls for good communication skills and experience of working closely with the general public. You will need to be able to cope calmly and effectively with both routine and emergency situations, and be a compassionate, professional and courteous individual.

This is a varied and interesting post involving liaising with departments in the hospital as well as security, maintenance and other support staff.

These hours involve lone-working throughout the shift and being able to use your initiative is paramount.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to answer all internal and external calls, including emergency, fire and cardiac, responding to alarms, issuing of keys, dealing with the bleep system and ensuring the department on-call rota is completed,

Full training will be given, undertaken during normal working hours, before the successful candidate commences the role.

The Post is as follows

27.30 hours a week

Weeks 1,2,3 - 10pm-8am Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday then

Week 4 - 10pm-8am Wednesday and Thursday.

All of the shifts will incur enhancements for working out of hours.
