Job summary
Due to expansion of our retail catering services, which are due to open in April 2024, we are now looking for additional colleagues to join our retail catering teams.
We have 4x roles each for 12hrs per week working weekends and start 01-April- 2024
Our Catering Assistant - Retail role is very varied, and a typical day could consist of serving customers, taking orders & payments using the EPOS till system and cash handling, basic food preparation and food handling, serving hot drinks from bean to cup and barista style machines. (Barista trained would be an advantage but not needed as training will be given to the right candidate), stock replenishment and rotation, assisting with hospitality functions for our Trust colleagues, completing daily data record sheets as required and other comparable tasks as directed by the Catering Manager and other department managers & supervisors .
The days are busy, but very varied, and rewarding and we welcome applications from enthusiastic and self motivated individuals with a passion for general customer service duties and who take pride in their work and are responsive to the needs of the patients, visitors and staff through the delivery of excellent customer service at all times.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Catering Assistant - (Retail) is to carry out all duties to the required standard for the provision of the catering services within the Hospital.
Participating in food preparation such as chilled food and food prepared for hot hold and other simple food preparation duties as instructed and allocated by the Catering Manager, other department managers or supervisors.
Be able to work as part of a team and assist each other to be sure duties are fulfilled in a safe and timely manner.
Occasional participation in function work and other duties within all the retail catering areas when required.
General duties as per tasking sheets to ensure an effective, customer friendly service is provided at all times.
Adheres to departmental sickness and absence reporting procedures and complete mandatory training.
Completes any log sheets associated with departmental hygiene control systems.
Observes Health & Safety procedures at all times.
Appear for duty on time in a clean and tidy uniform wearing the correct footwear.
Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene
To observe departmental/Trust policies on Fire, Health & Safety at Work, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and Accident Reporting.
To adhere strictly to correct food hygiene practices in accordance with departmental policy, Food Hygiene Regulations, Food Safety Act and local procedures.
To undertake any duties as may be required.
