Job summary

This is a whole time Consultant Geriatrician appointment for the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an additional post to meet the growing demand for expert multidisciplinary input into the management of Older People with complex needs coming through the front door and requiring admission.

Main duties of the job

The consultant will be required to deliver daily senior reviews, we also encourage any consultants to develop any special interest, like a pre-operative assessment clinic, oncogeriatrics, among others due to the high demand that we are having from the other services.

You will have:

- Full registration with the GMC

- CCT in Geriatrics and General Internal Medicine or equivalent

- Wide experience in Geriatrics (or be within 6 months of attaining the above)

- MRCP or equivalent

- Entry on the General Medical Council Register via one of the following -

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
  • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
  • European Community Rights

An appropriate higher degree (e.g. a MD, PhD or equivalent experience in sub-speciality/ies within Elderly Care Medicine or Frailty, and evidence of an active research interest in Geriatrics/Frailty would be desirable.)

About us

We have developed a frailty unit with 19 beds and deliberate in-reaching at the front door. We are continually improving our service and our plan is to reduce the number of beds to 16 with a focus on an additional ambulatory element of 4 chairs, supported by frailty trained nurses and an increased ACP workforce. The consultant will be supported by 3 ACPs, nurses trained in frailty and the FAU has two juniors helping with ward. This is a 10 PA post.
