Job summary
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust have a vacancy for a full time Fixed Term Consultant in General Anaesthesia. This Consultant post is based at Pilgrim Hospital however post-holders will be expected to operate flexibly across all hospital sites.

Any Consultant who is unable to work full time will be considered. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed and negotiated on an individual basis.
Main duties of the job
The Appointee will be expected, in conjunction with his / her colleagues, to provide a comprehensive General Anaesthetic service at Pilgrim Hospital. Successful candidates will be expected to cover cross-sites as per the ULHT Policy and this will be discussed in job plan.
The appointee will take part in the general anaesthesia consultant on-call rota for emergency duties at Pilgrim Hospital and provide, on a reciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
He/she will be required to play an active part in the robust clinical governance programme in operation within the Department and to take part in regional and national audits and participate in service improvement. He/she will also be required to report all critical incidents and expected to attend regularly Clinical Audit, Critical Incident Reporting, Morbidity & Mortality and Anaesthetic Departmental Team meetings.
He/she will be expected to undertake clinical supervision of Foundation, Core or Specialty trainees including workplace assessment, feedback and communication with educational supervisors as appropriate.
The appointee will have continuing responsibility for patients in his / her care and for the proper functioning of the department. Involvement in research where appropriate is encouraged.
He/she will be encouraged to participate in management duties within the Department and the organisation.

The hospital has an Accident and Emergency Department, a Medical Admissions Unit, a combined ITU/HDU with 9 funded beds.
