Cardiac Physiology Choice & Access Officer - Band 2

Job summary

The Department is seeking an enthusiastic Choice and Access Officer to provide a comprehensive, accurate and confidential cardiac physiology support service.

Main duties of the job

Maintain good relationships communicating with all disciplines within the Trust and maintain good relationships and effective communication with patients, relatives, and carers

  • Actively participate in the department and in other group meetings
  • To maintain departmental performance by upholding agreed quality standards
  • Responsible for adding patients to the waiting lists
  • Follow the agreed guidelines for the booking of interpreter services and patient transport services
  • Responsible for allocating and booking appointments forward discharges and actioning e-mail requests from internal and external users
  • To receive inbound telephone calls from patients wishing to cancel or change their appointment
  • Be responsible for partial booking appointments
  • Be able to use all appropriate office equipment
  • Ability to transfer information accurately on to a computer system
  • Ability to work to short time scales
  • Responsible for registering on CareFlow all referrals including Consultant to Consultant referrals that are not dealt with by the E-Referral System (ERS)
  • Accurate collection and recording of data, ensuring any errors are clearly identified and corrected, including patient demographics. Ensure high levels of accuracy are maintained
  • Attend all mandatory training and update sessions
  • To provide cover for colleagues, as and when required during annual leave and sickness

  • Good standard of education with at least 5 GCSE's (grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths NVQ2 or equivalent in relative subject, i.e. Customer Care Skills Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Or NVQ2 or equivalent in relative subject, i.e. Customer Care Skills
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

Desirable

  • CLAIT or European Computer Driving Licence
  • Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Previous Experience

  • Experience of working in an office environment
