Job summary

The post holder will be the nominated NEC Contract Supervisor within the Pilgrim Emergency department build.

Reporting to the Senior Capital Project Manager within the Capital team, this is a fundamental role to deliver a quality control, quality checks and health and safety inspections service ensuring best value in relation to all construction projects within the Capital Projects team programme of works.

The post holder will be responsible for completing all relevant documents relating to the standards of work and the resources used by a contractor at all stages of a project and bringing to the attention of the appropriate senior managers, issues of importance or potential concern.

Monitor the quality of work undertaken in relation to the Quality Standards set for a project with an appropriate level of understanding of work procedures and practices underpinned with knowledge and understanding of the construction industry.

Provide a supervisory role and advice to colleagues, contractors, external stakeholders and other Trust staff.

Auditing of the Contractor Quality Management Plan (QMP) from a Senior Civil Structural Architectural (CSA) and Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) perspective.

Main duties of the job

1. Nominated NEC Contract Supervisor within the Pilgrim Emergency department build.

2. Ensuring a consistently high standard of quality control, supervision is maintained one each project via site visits and ensuring compliance with the Estates & Facilities.

3. Assessing contract implementation with due regard to buildings and health and safety legislation and if required instruct contractors to cease operations until further rectification has been achieved.

4. Ensuring that the standards of work and the materials used by the contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information and specification.

5. Participate in the completion of inspection reports for feedback of information from CSA and M&E projects to the client, project team, contract lead and design team.

6. Monitoring the performance of the contractors and consultants on site to ensure that building works are constructed in accordance with the drawings and specifications.

  • o Degree in Mechanical, Building, Surveying or Building Services Engineering or equivalent or relevant experience or willing to undertake part time degree level course in Estate Discipline
  • o Good all round education - literacy, numeracy and comprehensive skills sufficient to produce excellent written reports and procedures and accurate financial analysis.

  • Senior Clerk of Works Experience or Technical Manager Experience preferably in an acute hospital environment.

  • Detailed specialist technical knowledge of HTM, HBN, British Standards, Fire code and BMS systems.

  • Comprehensive overview of the Building industry.

  • Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines and where necessary change deadlines.
