- Job Title Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice.
- Department: rotational throughout training.
- Site: All sites- Lincoln, Pilgrim and Grantham.
- Salary: Band 4.
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
- Contract Type: Fixed Term for 18mths, 2 years or 3 years
This programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and the University of Lincoln. 100% course attendance is mandatory.
This is a developmental role via the apprenticeship route. You will be employed by United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust where you will gain experience in a variety of settings across primary and secondary care - supporting patients, families and carers and work with a range of health and care professionals and other agencies. Upon successful completion, the Apprentice will qualify and apply to the NMC and Register as a Nurse.
An Apprentice Nurse will build on existing experience and qualifications acting in the best interests of people, putting them first and providing nursing care that is person-centred, safe and compassionate.
An Apprentice Nurse will play an active role as a member of interdisciplinary teams, collaborating and communicating effectively with nurses, a range of other health and care professionals and lay carers.
An Apprentice Nurse will contribute to the provision of care for people, including those with complex needs.
Main duties of the job
As an Apprentice Nurse you will:1. Engage actively with all learning opportunities required, by ULHT and the named University with which they are completing the programme.
2. Fulfil the required amount of practice hours required to complete the programme within the given timeframe.
3. Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other registered care professional with a focus on promoting health and independence.
4. Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS and Trust Values.
5. Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
6. Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professional's dependent on setting.
7. Have the ability to deliver care in line with the individual's defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Apprentice Nurse role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.
8. Delegate tasks to other members of the clinical care team as appropriate, e.g Healthcare support workers, family members and lay carers.
9. Work openly and effectively with the leadership team within the clinical area and with the academic University staff, enabling you to achieve your set goals.
