Job summary

Greetwell Ward is a 27 bedded acute surgical ward, specialising in ENT, maxfax, and general surgery. It provides the highest quality of nursing care to both male and female patients, on emergency and planned admission pathways.

As a band 6 Deputy Sister you will be expected to oversee the management of staff, coordinate flow, and support junior staff. There will be lots of opportunities to learn and develop the more management side of the role.

Main duties of the job

We require registered nurses who are committed to providing a high standard of individualised patient-centred nursing care, through effective assessment, planning and delivery. They must be enthusiastic and motivated to working in a busy surgical environment. The applicant should also have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to organise and prioritise workload and ideally have an interest in surgical nursing/acute care.

We offer support, guidance and training relevant to the clinical area within a friendly patient-centred environment, encouraging personal and professional development facilitated by our other band 6 Deputy Sister and the Ward Manager.

Highly motivated individuals with experience in nursing and who are keen to contribute and develop the patient experience and ward. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to assist the ward manager with co-ordinating our nursing team, and to deliver an excellent and continually improving quality service for the patients and their relatives. Greetwell is a busy environment, but if you are ready for a challenge this post has the potential for many rewards. The band 6 will be expected to manage the ward in the Ward Sister's absence and to assist the ward sister in appraisals, managing attendance and audits.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential with an ability to prioritise workload and work in accordance with the Trust Policies/Guidelines.
