Job summary
Working under delegation and supervision of a registered Nurse/ Midwife, the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will undertake defined responsibilities appropriate to their role in the workplace setting. They will comply with Trust policies, protocols, guidelines, the fifteen standards of the Care Certificate and the national strategy of Compassion in Practice and will ensure safe, compassionate and competent care is delivered to our patients and service users at all times.
It is a requirement of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust that all HCSWs adhere to the Code of Conduct for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers.
In order to ensure standardisation of skills and competencies across the workforce, it is a further requirement of the Trust that all substantive HCSW's complete the Care Certificate Qualification and it is expected that all staff employed into the role of HCSW will complete this element of the qualification within the first twelve weeks of employment.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a variety of skills in all aspects of Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic. You will work within guidance of registered nurses to ensure patient's receive high quality patient care. Undertake clinical and therapeutic care activities, assist in plaster room, chaperone of patients, support and advocate patient's needs and individual needs. Within Outpatient's we have a flexible workforce so you will also work within Main Outpatients and Ophthalmology.
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work well as part of the multidisciplinary team. They must also have a willingness to expand their knowledge and skills in relation to the outpatient setting. It is essential that candidates have a flexible approach to work and are available between the hours of 0830-1700, Monday to Sunday.
