An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Matron role for Respiratory and Gastroenterology services Trustwide at ULHT.

The successful applicant will be fully supported by the Lead Nurse for Specialty Medicine and the medicine leadership team.

Main duties of the job

To provide seamless leadership ensuring an effective and efficient structure to manage the specialty/ies is in place to oversee delivery, improvement and assuranceTo provide strong, visible, clinical leadership, energising, inspiring and empowering nurses and other clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective and safe delivery of services within their area of responsibility.To work closely with other Matrons to ensure collaborative working and achievement of Trust objectives, particularly safe patient care.To use evidence based and reflective practice, influence nursing practice across sphere of responsibility.To maintain professional competence, authority and credibilityTo work with each ward and department to agree a plan in order to meet all standards outlined within ward accreditation.Take a lead role within the area of responsibility for promoting patient safety, ensuring that key patient safety risks are identified, recorded on the risk register, and actions are taken to minimise riskTo Investigate untoward incidents and take action where required.Ensure that systems and processes are in place to maintain the health and safety of the patients, visitors and staff.

To be jointly responsibility with the clinical lead and managerial lead for the specialty/ies ensuring budgets are managed effectively across the area of responsibility.
