Job summary
6 month secondment - We are looking to recruit to the post of Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our existing team. This is an exciting opportunity to improve the patient experience and develop the successful candidate's career. The post holder will provide authoritative leadership to ensure that GSU delivers high quality evidence based care.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the setting of Surgery and Admissions. They must have proven leadership and management skills, and be able to demonstrate they will be an effective role model within the ward setting. They will have experience of multidisciplinary working and will demonstrate excellent communication skills.

experience with level one surgical/Orthopaedic patients would be desirable and competency in this skill would also be desirable.
orthopaedics will be on one floor of the unit with general surgery on the second floor which united will be a very busy surgical unit and will need skilled rostering and staff empowerment to ensure high quality of care is given at all times.
Main duties of the job
Grantham Surgical unit is a 44 bedded unit that predominantly cares for male and female patients who have ben admitted through the elective pathway via pre assessment.
The ward is very busy providing care to varied speciality surgical patients and is supported by Surgical Consultant teams and CCOT as we have level one patients on the unit.
The nursing team are very caring, friendly, and compassionate and provide an exceptionally high standard of nursing care.
